Yotpo vs Bazaarvoice: pricing, retail syndication and which one to buy
Yotpo and Bazaarvoice both put star ratings under your products, and that is roughly where the similarity stops. Yotpo publishes prices you can read on a Tuesday afternoon and start using the same day. Bazaarvoice publishes plan names, a contact form and a syndication network of 2,300 plus retailers, and you will be several calls deep before anyone tells you a number. Which one you should buy comes down to a single question about your business, and it is not the one most comparison posts ask.

The short answer
Buy Bazaarvoice if a meaningful share of your revenue comes through other people's shelves, physical or digital, because retail syndication is the thing it does that Yotpo does at a smaller scale and nobody else does properly at all. Buy Yotpo if you sell mostly direct on Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce or Adobe Commerce and you want reviews, loyalty and SMS on one bill you can see before you talk to sales. Yotpo publishes Free, $15 a month and $119 a month on its Shopify listing. Bazaarvoice publishes Essentials, Advanced and Enterprise, and no prices at all.
What each company actually sells
Yotpo is a direct to consumer marketing suite that grew out of a reviews product. Reviews are still the front door, but the pitch is the bundle: reviews and visual UGC, a loyalty and rewards program, SMS and email marketing, all sharing one customer record. It names Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Adobe Commerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Google, Meta, TikTok Shop and Klaviyo among more than 100 integrations, and claims 35,000 plus brands and 300 million plus live reviews collected.
Bazaarvoice is a network business wearing a software coat. The software collects reviews, but the asset is the Bazaarvoice Network: 2,300 plus global retailers, 2.3 billion monthly shoppers and 13,000 plus brands and retailers by its own numbers. When a brand publishes a review on its own site, Bazaarvoice can push that same review onto the product page at the retailer selling the item. It also owns Influenster, a sampling community it describes as 9 million plus members, which it uses to seed reviews on products that do not have any yet.
That distinction explains almost every other difference between them. Yotpo optimizes the store you control. Bazaarvoice optimizes the stores you do not.
Yotpo vs Bazaarvoice pricing
This is the least symmetrical part of the comparison, because only one of them publishes anything.
| Yotpo | Bazaarvoice | |
|---|---|---|
| Published tiers | Free, Starter, Pro | Essentials, Advanced, Enterprise |
| Published prices | $0, $15 a month, $119 a month on the Shopify listing | None |
| Annual option | $144 a year Starter, $1,068 a year Pro | Not published |
| What moves the price | "Pricing changes based on order volume" on both paid tiers | Not published. Quote covers software, support and implementation services |
| Can you self serve? | Yes, install from the app store and start | No, every route is a sales form |
| Free tier | Yes, up to 50 monthly orders | No |
Two warnings about that table. First, the Yotpo figures are floors, not prices. Both paid tiers carry the same footnote about order volume, so a store doing 400 orders a month and a store doing 40,000 are not paying the same $119. Read the order volume tiers in your checkout before you budget, and check them again at renewal. We keep the full breakdown on our Yotpo pricing page, including where the number stops being competitive.
Second, you will find blog posts quoting a specific Bazaarvoice annual figure. Every one we could trace back leads to a customer anecdote or an aggregator, not to Bazaarvoice. Its own pricing page lists three plan names and then says its team "will help you explore the various software, support, and implementation services options to find you a 5-star fit". That phrasing is doing real work: implementation is a separate line, and for enterprise deployments it is not a rounding error.
Retail syndication is the whole decision
If you sell exclusively on your own site, syndication is worth nothing to you and you should stop reading comparisons that lead with it. If you sell through Walmart, Target, Macy's, Home Depot or a European grocer, it may be worth more than every other feature combined, because the review count on a retailer product page is the thing standing between your SKU and the one next to it.
Both vendors do it. The difference is scale and posture. Bazaarvoice built its business on the network and quotes 2,300 plus retail sites. Yotpo syndicates too, naming Google, Meta, TikTok Shop, the Shop App and retail partners including Walmart, Macy's, Target and Bloomingdale's. For a brand with a handful of retail relationships, Yotpo's reach may well cover them. For a brand with fifty, the arithmetic tilts hard the other way, and it is worth asking both vendors for the specific list of your retailers rather than accepting a headline number.
One practical test that cuts through the sales decks: hand each vendor your actual retailer list and ask which accounts are live in the network today, not which are on a roadmap. A network of 2,300 that misses your three biggest accounts is worth less than a network of 200 that covers all three.
Where each one wins
| Capability | Yotpo | Bazaarvoice |
|---|---|---|
| Time to first review live | Same day on Shopify | Weeks, with implementation services |
| Retail syndication reach | Named partners including Walmart, Target, Macy's, Bloomingdale's | 2,300 plus retail sites, the category benchmark |
| Seeding reviews on new products | Request flows to existing buyers | Influenster sampling, 9 million plus member community |
| Loyalty, SMS and email in the same suite | Yes, that is the core pitch | No |
| Fits a $2M DTC brand | Comfortably | Usually not, on price and process |
| Fits a national CPG brand | Possible, depends on retailer coverage | Built for exactly this |
The API question, because it decides more deals than it should
Both platforms document APIs, and on both the interesting part is commercial rather than technical. Yotpo's UGC and Core APIs are publicly documented, any store administrator can generate an app key and secret from Account Settings, and the rate limit is 5 requests per second per store. What Yotpo does not do is name API access on any published plan, which means the entitlement question has to be settled in your order form rather than assumed. We wrote up the endpoints, the token flow and the limits on our Yotpo API page.
Bazaarvoice sits at the other end. Because everything is quoted, API access is simply part of the negotiation, and enterprise deployments normally include it. The trade is predictable: you get more capability and less ability to find out what it costs before you commit.
What neither of them covers
Here is the gap that catches out most brands running either platform. Yotpo and Bazaarvoice handle product reviews: the stars under a SKU, the photos on a listing, the syndicated content on a retailer page. Neither one manages your business reviews, and those are a separate trust problem with separate software.
Your Google Business Profile rating is the first thing a shopper sees when they search your brand name. Your Trustpilot profile is what an anxious first time buyer checks before entering a card number. If you sell B2B alongside DTC, your G2 profile is what a procurement team reads. None of that lives inside a product reviews app, and a brand with 4,000 glowing SKU reviews and a 3.2 star Google rating is still losing sales at the top of the funnel. That is the side review management software handles, and it runs perfectly happily alongside whichever product reviews vendor you pick.
How to decide in one afternoon
Work through it in this order and the answer usually falls out fast.
Start with your revenue mix. If more than roughly a third of sales go through retailers you do not own, put Bazaarvoice on the list and make syndication coverage the first question. If you are 90 percent direct, Yotpo is almost certainly the right shape and you can skip the enterprise sales cycle entirely.
Then check your catalog turnover. Brands launching new SKUs constantly have a permanent zero review problem, and sampling solves it in a way review request emails cannot, because there are no buyers to email yet. That pushes toward Bazaarvoice and Influenster. A stable catalog with a steady order flow does not need it.
Then count the tools you would retire. If Yotpo's reviews plus loyalty plus SMS bundle replaces two other subscriptions, compare the bundle price against the sum of what you already pay, not against Bazaarvoice. That is often where the decision is actually made.
Finally, price the content, not just the software. Both platforms give you a pile of customer photos and video, and most brands let it sit in a dashboard. It is far more valuable pulled out and turned into ready to run UGC ad creative, which changes the return on either subscription more than any feature on either comparison table.
If neither fits the budget
Plenty of stores land here, look at $119 a month plus order volume on one side and a sales call on the other, and decide both are too much for where they are. That is a reasonable conclusion, and the Shopify review app market has real options underneath Yotpo at lower prices. We compared them, with current pricing, in our roundup of Yotpo alternatives and Shopify review app pricing.
Whatever you land on for product reviews, do the cheap thing first: make sure the reviews that already exist about your business are visible on your site. A widget showing your Google, G2 and Trustpilot reviews takes a script tag and moves conversion on the pages where shoppers are deciding whether you are real. It costs a fraction of either platform on this page, and it is the one piece of the puzzle neither of them sells you.
