Birdeye vs BrightLocal pricing and which one a small business should buy
BrightLocal is the better buy for a small business or an agency with up to a few dozen locations that wants review requests, review monitoring and local SEO tracking at a price it can read today: $65 a month for one location on Grow, $49 if billed yearly. Birdeye is the better buy for a multi-location brand that wants reviews, listings, webchat, surveys and social under one contract, and it publishes no price. If review requests are the main job and you have under ten locations, BrightLocal wins on cost. Past that, Birdeye's breadth starts to earn its quote.

The short answer
These two tools start from opposite ends. BrightLocal is a local SEO platform that added reviews: rank tracking, citations and Google Business Profile audits come first, and review management sits in its top Grow plan. Birdeye is a customer experience platform that started with reviews and grew into messaging, listings and AI agents for large brands. Ask which of those two jobs your team does every week, then count your locations.
Birdeye vs BrightLocal pricing
BrightLocal prints its prices and bands them by location count. There are three plans. Track ($41 a month for one location) and Manage ($54) are local SEO plans with rank tracking, audits, citation monitoring and Google Business Profile post scheduling. Review management only appears in Grow, at $65 a month for one location, $87 for two to five, $131 for six to ten and $197 for eleven to twenty. Paying yearly takes 25 percent off, so one location on Grow drops to $49 a month. The table runs to 250 locations; above that the price is on request. There is a 14 day trial with no credit card, and you can cancel at any time.
Birdeye prints nothing. Its pricing page collects your email, company, mobile number and location band (1 to 3, 4 to 9, 10 to 39, 40 to 249, 250 to 999, or 1,000 and up) and hands you to sales. Capterra lists its Starter, Growth and Dominate plans as custom quotes. The $299 to $449 per location figures you see on comparison sites are third-party estimates, not Birdeye numbers; our Birdeye pricing breakdown traces where they come from.
| BrightLocal | Birdeye | |
|---|---|---|
| Plan with reviews | Grow, $65/mo for 1 location ($49 yearly) | Every plan, custom quote |
| 5 locations | $87/mo on Grow | Quote for the 4 to 9 band |
| 10 locations | $131/mo on Grow | Quote for the 10 to 39 band |
| Trial | 14 days, no credit card | Listed on Capterra, length not published |
| Contract | Cancel anytime; no refund for unused time | Not published; ask for the term in writing |
| Reviews | Requests by email, SMS and in-store, monitoring and replies, site widget | Requests, monitoring across many sites, AI replies, widgets |
| Beyond reviews | Rank tracking, geo-grid maps, citations, GBP audits and posts | Listings, webchat, texting, surveys, social, payments, AI agents |
Is BrightLocal cheaper than Birdeye?
Almost certainly, at any location count under a few dozen. Ten locations on BrightLocal Grow cost $131 a month, or roughly $1,180 a year on annual billing. Even the lowest third-party Birdeye estimate in circulation is more than that for a single location. The honest caveat is that you are not buying the same thing. BrightLocal will not answer your website chat or run a customer survey, and Birdeye's quote buys those. Compare the two on the modules you would actually open, not on the sticker.
What does BrightLocal Grow include for reviews?
Grow adds three things to the local SEO plans: review monitoring and responses across multiple sites, review requests by email, SMS and in-store campaigns, and review publishing on your website. Everything from Track and Manage comes along, which means rank tracking for up to 100 keywords against four competitors, geo-grid maps and business data syncing. If you also want to watch what those competitors charge and how fast their own review counts climb, a dedicated tool that can track competitors' prices, site changes and reviews covers ground a local SEO suite does not.
The gap to watch is the plan structure. If your marketing person only wants review requests, Track and Manage are no use, and you pay Grow's rate for local SEO tooling you may already have elsewhere. That is the point where a review-only tool is the cheaper fit.
What does Birdeye do that BrightLocal does not?
Birdeye is built for the front desk and the marketing team at once. Customer texting and webchat land in one inbox, surveys and ticketing handle unhappy customers before they post, social publishing runs across every location, and payments and appointment tools sit alongside. For a brand with forty clinics or two hundred franchise units, keeping all of that in one platform with per location reporting is worth a negotiated contract. For a two-location business that mainly wants more Google reviews, almost none of it gets opened.
Is BrightLocal good for agencies?
Yes, and that is a large part of its customer base. White labeling appears on its feature list, though the pricing page does not say which plan carries it, so confirm that before you commit. The location bands keep per client cost low, and the pay-as-you-go Citation Builder (from $3.20 per site, down to $2 with bulk credits) gives agencies a product to resell without a subscription. Birdeye sells to agencies too, but the quote model makes it hard to price a client package before the sales call. If you resell review management specifically, compare both against the tools on our white label reputation management software page, which publish a per workspace price.
Which should a small business buy, Birdeye or BrightLocal?
Count your locations and list what your team will open every week.
- One to ten locations, reviews plus local rankings: BrightLocal Grow. Start the 14 day trial and check whether the review request flow fits your job closeout.
- Forty or more locations, front desk messaging and listings across all of them: get a Birdeye quote for your exact band, in writing, with the renewal terms.
- Reviews only, or reviews on G2 and Trustpilot as well as Google: neither is the efficient buy. Read the next section.
What if you only need review requests and a widget?
Then you are paying BrightLocal for rank tracking or Birdeye for a messaging suite. ReviewJet does the review job on its own: automated email and SMS requests on a trigger with one follow-up, Google, G2, Trustpilot and direct reviews collected in one place, and a widget on your site with review schema. Starter is $49 a month with 1,000 requests, Plus is $149 with five workspaces and white labeling, and Pro is $499 with no caps. The price does not change with your location count. It does not track rankings or run webchat, so if either matters, one of the two above stays the right choice.
If you are already on Birdeye and weighing a move, our Birdeye alternatives comparison lists the platforms that publish a rate. Agencies coming from a per location review platform will find the cost tables on our GatherUp alternatives page useful, since BrightLocal appears there at 1, 5, 10 and 20 locations. Or see ReviewJet's plans and build your widget above before you decide.
Frequently asked questions
Almost certainly under a few dozen locations. BrightLocal Grow, the plan with review management, costs $65 a month for one location, $87 for two to five and $131 for six to ten, with 25 percent off yearly. Birdeye publishes no price, and third-party estimates start well above BrightLocal for a single location.
Yes, on the Grow plan only. Grow includes review requests by email, SMS and in-store campaigns, review monitoring and responses across multiple sites, and review publishing on your website. The cheaper Track and Manage plans are local SEO tools without review features.
Choose Birdeye if you run many locations and need texting, webchat, surveys, listings and social publishing under one contract with per location reporting. A small business that mainly wants more Google reviews and better local rankings will get more from BrightLocal at a fraction of the cost.
Yes. Agencies use its location bands, white label reporting and pay-as-you-go Citation Builder from $3.20 per site. The pricing page lists white labeling as a feature without naming the plan, so confirm which tier includes it before you price client packages.
Birdeye's Capterra listing shows a free trial, but its own pricing page routes you to sales and does not state a length. BrightLocal publishes a 14 day trial with no credit card. ReviewJet lets you build a working review widget on the page before you sign up.
