Reputation management software for small business: 8 tools compared by published price

ReviewJet Team 8 min read

Reputation management software for a small business does three jobs: it asks every customer for a review, it helps you reply, and it puts the good reviews where buyers decide. The category runs from $45 to well over $400 a month, and the price mostly depends on how the vendor counts you: per location, per account, or through a sales quote. Here are the eight options a US small business realistically chooses between, sorted by published price.

The short answer

For one location that mainly needs more Google reviews, a flat tool in the $45 to $75 range does the job: Reviewflowz at $45 per location, ReviewJet at $49 flat with the reviews shown on your website, or NiceJob at $75. GatherUp at $99 adds monitoring across 100+ sites. Thryv bundles reviews into a $99 to $399 business suite. Birdeye and Podium publish no price.

What is the best reputation management software for small business?

The best one is the cheapest tool that covers the platform your customers actually read. For a plumber, a salon or a restaurant, that is Google. For a SaaS company, it is G2 or Capterra. For an online store selling to consumers, often Trustpilot. Every price below was read on the vendor's own pricing page, and where a vendor publishes nothing the table says so.

Reputation management software for small business compared on published price, billing unit and best fit
Tool Published price Billing unit Best fit
Reviewflowz Pro $45/mo, Premium $70/mo Per location One location that wants AI-drafted replies cheaply
ReviewJet Starter $49/mo or $288/yr; Plus $149, Pro $499 Flat per account Review requests plus Google, G2 or Trustpilot reviews shown on your own site
NiceJob Starter $75/mo, Pro $125/mo, no contract Per account Home service companies that want referral campaigns too
GatherUp $99/mo for 1 location, $60 per location for 2 to 10 Per location Owners who also want NPS and monitoring across 100+ review sites
Thryv $99/mo and $399/mo suites Per suite Owners who want scheduling, invoicing and reviews in one login
Trustpilot Starter from $99/mo, Plus from $319/mo, billed yearly Per domain, 12 month commitment Online stores whose buyers check Trustpilot before paying
Reputation.com $80, $115 or $150 per location a month Per location Small groups that want listings and surveys as well
Birdeye, Podium Not published; sales call required Quote Businesses that want texting, webchat or payments bundled

How much does reputation management software cost for a small business?

Expect $45 to $125 a month for a single location on a tool with a public price. Over a year that is roughly $540 to $1,500. Above that band you are paying for something other than reviews: listings management, surveys, a phone and texting inbox, or a whole business suite.

The billing unit matters more than the sticker. A per-location tool is cheapest for one site and grows with every location you add. GatherUp at two locations is $120 a month; at five it is $300. Reputation.com at five locations on its lowest tier is $400. A flat tool stays where it is: ReviewJet Plus is $149 whether you run two locations or five, because it counts workspaces, not storefronts.

Watch for the costs that do not show on the pricing page. Trustpilot bills per domain for a year up front. Thryv's review features sit inside a suite, so you pay for scheduling and invoicing whether you use them or not. Birdeye and Podium give numbers only on a sales call, which makes a like-for-like comparison impossible until you have sat through two demos. Our reputation management pricing breakdown goes through each pricing model in more detail.

Which reputation management software fits which small business?

A single-location service business

You need a request after every job and a reminder, pointed at Google. That is the whole job, and it does not need a $300 suite. Reviewflowz, ReviewJet and NiceJob all do it. Pick NiceJob if you want referral campaigns, Reviewflowz if you want AI-drafted replies at the lowest price, and ReviewJet if you want the reviews on your service pages as well. The trade-specific version of this is on our reputation management for contractors page.

A restaurant, cafe or bar

Recency is everything, and Yelp forbids asking for reviews, so the effort goes to Google. If you already pay for OpenTable, its plans include review management. Otherwise a QR code on the check presenter plus a text after online orders does most of the work. Our reputation management for restaurants page covers the setup and the rules.

A small B2B or SaaS company

Your buyers read G2, Capterra or Trustpilot, not Google Maps. Most local-business tools ignore those platforms. You need requests that point to your G2 or Trustpilot profile and a widget that shows those reviews on your pricing page, which is what ReviewJet was built around.

Two to five locations

This is where per-location pricing starts to hurt. Run the arithmetic at your real location count before you sign. At five locations, GatherUp is $300 a month, Reputation.com Rep Core $400 and ReviewJet Plus $149. The per-location tools include more monitoring. Decide whether you would use it.

You want texting, payments and reviews in one bill

Podium and Birdeye are built for that, and Thryv covers similar ground with scheduling and invoicing. Get the quote in writing for the features you will use in the first ninety days, not the full demo. The Thryv alternatives and NiceJob alternatives comparisons break those suites down module by module.

Does a small business need reputation management software?

You need it when reviews come in slower than customers do. If you finish forty jobs a month and get two reviews, the problem is not service quality, it is that nobody asks consistently. Software fixes that by sending the request automatically. If you finish four jobs a month and ask every one of them in person, you can skip it and use a free Google review link.

Staff email is the other cheap channel. Every invoice, quote and follow-up your team sends is a chance to show the review link, and company email signature software puts the same link in every signature without asking each person to update theirs.

What to check before you buy

No review gating. Some tools first ask "how did we do?" and send only happy customers to Google. Google prohibits selectively soliciting positive reviews, and the FTC rule on consumer reviews, in force since October 2024, bans incentives tied to positive reviews. Our explainer on review gating covers why it is still sold.

The contract term. NiceJob and ReviewJet bill monthly. Trustpilot commits you for twelve months. Suites sold through sales calls often run annual agreements. Ask before the demo, not after.

Where the reviews end up. Your Google reviews stay on Google if you cancel, so switching tools never loses them. What you lose is the widget on your site and your request history. Pick a tool whose widget you are happy to leave on the homepage for a few years.

The direct review link. Requests should open the review form itself, not your Maps listing. If you do not have that link yet, the Google review link generator builds it in a minute.

Is reputation management software worth it for a small business?

Usually yes, and the math is short. At $49 a month, the tool pays for itself if it brings in one extra customer every few months for a plumber, a law firm or an accountant. The harder question is which tier you need. Most small businesses pay for monitoring, listings and surveys they never open, when what moved their rating was a request that went out after every sale. Start with the smallest plan that asks every customer and shows the results on your site, and upgrade only when you run out of it. The broader category, including multi-location suites, is compared on our reputation management software page, and the ReviewJet plans show exactly what each tier includes.
